Raipur, March 3 (IANS) Bhilai Steel Plant, the largest unit of the public sector Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), saw growth in its production in various categories in 11 months of the current fiscal (April 2012-February 2013) over the same period last year, a statement said Sunday.
The growth was 2.2 percent, 3.2 percent and 3 percent, respectively in hot metal, crude steel and saleable steel production.
The growth registered in cumulative crude steel production has been supported by the Steel Melting Shop-I achieving a growth of 4 percent and Steel Melting Shop-II achieving a growth of 2.4 percent over corresponding period of previous year.
The plant produced 4.76 million tonnes of hot metal and 4.58 million tonnes of crude steel in April to February period. The plant's Rajhara Iron Ore Mines recorded growth of 4.4 percent over the corresponding period of last fiscal.
