In December 2007, a group of 11 women dressed as men tried to enter the Sabarimala temple. But their attempt failed when police stopped them at Pamba hindering them from going to the temple top. Police allowed them to go back to their native. There are many women activist groups in Kerala who are seeking the entry of women into the Sabarimala temple. The Kerala High Court, in its 1993 judgment, had upheld the validity of the rule banning the entry of women between the age of 10-50 years in the temple. Few women`s organisations moved Supreme court to allow women`s entry in to Sabarimala temple. The PIL is under SC`s consideration.Govt of Kerala informed the court that they are not against women pilgrims. But TDB and other Hindu activists opposes it.
