Rajya Sabha's Parliamentary Select Committee is going to submit its report on Lokpal bill in the house today for further consideration and amendments concerned.
Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, is scheduled to table the select committee's draft when the house resumes today.
Reiterating the government's promise to bring Lokpal bill for discussion in the upper house during this Winter Session of Parliament, Minister of state in the Prime Minister's Office V Narayanswamy said: "Today the report is being submitted by the Rajya Sabha Select committee. As the report comes, we will study and whatever the amendments concerned, we will consider and come to the house as soon as possible for the purpose of discussion.
"The government is committed to bring the Lokpal bill for discussion in the house during the Winter Session of parliament," said Narayanswamy.
The Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day at 12 noons yesterday after opposition's ruckus over FDI.
After its passage in the Lok Sabha last year, the Lokpal bill faced opposition hurdles in the Rajya Sabha on various provisions, following which it was referred to the Select Committee. (ANI)
