Shooting reported at US school

Washington, Dec 14 (IANS) Police in Connecticut state in the US were called in after shooting was reported at a primary school Friday, BBC reported.

The firing took place at the Sandy Hook School, a highly rated school in Newtown with more than 600 students. Police arrived at the school and evacuated people.

Schools across the district are on lock-down as a preventive measure, officials said.

There were unconfirmed reports of two shooters, the local Hartford Courant newspaper said.

Police received a call shortly after 9.40 a.m. that said a gunman was in the school's main office. One person there had "numerous gunshot wounds", the newspaper said.

Another media report said that at least one gunmen may have been killed.
