Colombo: According to a report in a Sri Lankan newspaper, The Sunday Times, a Sri Lankan MP, JRP Suriyapperuma, went on a tirade against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for failing to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM). The meeting was held in Colombo in November.

The MP, who at 85 is four years older than Singh, allegedly declared that the PM was a 'Nakiya' (old man) would soon be thrown out of office. He also called Manmohan a fool for creating a new state in India.

The below is his alleged statement -

“The Indian Prime Minister who promised to attend CHOGM and did not come has been rejected by the people at the election held to five Indian states. The old man (nakiya) will be thrown out of office soon. This fool has gone and created a new state in India now,”

Mr Suriyapperuma also allegedly called British PM David Cameron a 'kalakanniya' (Scoundrel) and said that the US President Barack Obama’s skull would be smashed by the joint powers of Russia and China.

The report stated that several opposition members expressed their displeasure at the comments made by Mr. Suriyapperuma. UNP Colombo District MP Ravi Karunanayaka rebutted by stating that stupid statements antagonizing foreign states will make Sri Lankan vulnerable.

JRP Suriyapperuma is a Sri Lankan politician, and a National List member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka. He belongs to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
