Patna: A person was killed and at least ten people, including three policemen, were injured on Tuesday as students went on a rampage, burnt police motorcycles and threw stones at some private coaching centres here.
A large number of students blocked roads, demanding action against the centres for allegedly duping students and indulging in malpractices, police said.
The victim, who succumbed to injuries at a hospital, was accidentally fired upon by a guard posted in front of a institute, police said.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ordered an investigation into the incident and announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 1.5 lakh for the family of the deceased, identified as Sachin Sharma.
Hundreds of students blocked roads in Bazaar Samiti, Pathar Ki Masjid, Kankerbagh, Kadamkuan and Rajendra Nagar localities, police said.
As the protesters targeted policemen, burnt police motorcycles and threw stones at the buildings housing the coaching centres and vehicles, the police resorted to lathicharge and lobbed teargas shells.

Yesterday too students had blocked the Bazaar Samiti Road and demonstrated in front of the coaching centres alleging that their owners had duped them under the pretext of conducting courses.
