Taliban commander killed in U.S. drone strike in NW Pakistan

-ANI): Pakistani Taliban commander Mullah Nazir was among the five militants killed in a U.S. drone strike launched in the wee hours of Thursday morning in Paksitan's northwest tribal area of South Waziristan, reported local media ARY.

According to the report, Mullah Nazir was killed together with four other militants when U.S. drones fired four missiles at about 12:30 a.m. local time Thursday morning at a house where they were living in the Angoor Ada area of South Waziristan bordering Afghanistan.

Four U.S. drones were reportedly involved in the strike.

Mullah Nazir, born in 1975, is a leading militant of the Pakistani Taliban in South Waziristan. His operations are based around Wana, capital town of South Waziristan. Nazir is considered a pro-government Taliban leader in Pakistan, who is against foreign influence, particularly that from Uzbekistan and the United States.

By far, there has been no official confirmation about the death of Nazir. (Xinhua-ANI)
