A K Antony
The Congress projected a clean image in the Kerala Assembly elections in 2001. A K AntonyÃÂs clean track record helped the UDF came to power in the state and Antony became the chief minister. But he was sitting on a shaky throne mainly because of the infighting in the party, spearheaded by veteran K Karunakaran, and poor performance of the UDF in the in general elections in 2004. More than three years after leading the Congress to a massive victory in the polls, Antony bowed out of office on August 19, 2004.
