London
Lonely Planet has declared London as one of its favourite cities in 2012. A Trip Advisor survey says that the United Kindom will be the top destinations for Indians in 2012. Frommers Travel Guide has already picked Greenwich in London as one of the 2012 must see places.
While visitors may throng to this World UNESCO site to get a glimpse of the Prime Meridian, London itself will wear a festive and a sporty look next year. The Olympics will be the major attraction as several travelers have already planned to visit the city next summer.
Literature, arts, history, theatre, royalty, culture – London offers all of it in the form of long lengthy walks. It is a modern city still living in the past. From Westminister Abbey to Buckingham Palace, from London Eye to Tower of London, there is so much to see and do here. Look at some of the buildings that still remain from the 16th century or walk down paths where Charles Dickens created his characters. If monuments and museums are not for you, then embark on a pub crawl and lose yourself in the spirits of the time.
Must Do – If you love pubs, have a beer at some of the old pubs on Fleet Street which have been around for centuries. My favourite would be the quaint 16th century Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese which has its own literary association from the likes of Charles Dickens who has referred to it in his Tale of Two Cities.
