Beating and torture of domestic helps was a common feature at BSP MP's wife Jagriti Singh's household, Delhi Police said on Wednesday.
Besides 35-year-old maid Rakhi, who was allegedly beaten to death and a minor help physically abused by Jagriti, "inhuman treatment" of a third maid has come to light, they said.
The third maid has been identified as Meena (38) and a native of 24 North Parganas in West Bengal, like Rakhi. She had also been severely injured and is at present undergoing treatment at R M L Hospital here, said police. Police will record Meena's statement under Section 164 CRPC.
A senior police officer said BSP MP Dhananjay Singh had sent Meena to one of his relatives' place in order to hide her from police.
"We came to know to about her last evening and found her at Dhananjay's brother-in-law house. Her back and other parts of the body have been burnt by hot iron. She was also beaten up in an inhuman manner and and she cannot even sit," said a senior police officer.
Meena has been working at Jagriti's residence at South Avenue since November 2012.
Dhananjay and his wife Jagriti were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Rakhi and "merciless" torture of another 17-year-old minor domestic help with stick and rods.
The body of Rakhi, with several injury marks on her legs, chest and arms, was recovered from Singh's residence at South Avenue here on Monday evening.
The juvenile help, who is the complainant in the case, had told police that Jagriti had been regularly beating the three domestic helps.
The domestic helps were allegedly tortured and beaten up by wooden sticks, iron rods, iron press and even metallic deer horns by the accused.
Rakhi, a Bangladeshi migrant, had been working at the MP's residence for the last 10 months. Although Jagriti was torturing Rakhi for the past many months, the frequency of beating had gone up since November 1.
"Rakhi was brutally beaten on Diwali night and she succumbed to her injuries next morning," said police.
Police said the post mortem of Rakhi will be conducted tomorrow. "We have sought permission from Delhi government for constitution of a medical board for postmortem," said police.
Rakhi's son Sehjahan, who was living in West Bengal, arrived in the city today. "We will talk to him to get more details in the case," said police.
38-year old BSP MP Singh, who already faces charges of murder, extortion and other offences under the Gangsters Act, was arrested on the charge of destruction of evidence, not informing police about the maid's death immediately and employing a juvenile as domestic.
Jagriti, 29-year old Dental surgeon at the R M L Hospital here, has been arrested under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 344 (wrongful confinement) of Indian Penal code and Juvenile Justice Act.
Meanwhile, police gave a clean chit to Chirag Delhi-based placement agency through which Rakhi was placed at the MP's house. "The maid was an adult so no case can be framed against it," said a senior police officer.
