Mariona Otero has travelled to some of the most astonishing cities on the planet. She's felt the warmth of a thousand welcomes, from people from different races, cultures and beliefs.
And she's captured it all on camera.
But ask her what astonished her the most, and she says it is the basic similarity of life across the world.
In Chennai for an exhibition of her photographs after similar shows in cities like Bath, Newcastle and Girona, the graphic designer and photographer from Spain took time out to tell Salil Jose about what touched her in India.
What prompted you to be a travelling photographer?
The constant learning of life. I like to meet people and learn from them, even if we don't speak the same language, there are still lots to communicate.
What all difficulties you have faced as a travelling woman photographer?
I haven't faced any difficulties at all. I even think that being a woman photographer has helped me, more than it being an obstacle. I try not to put myself in situations that can cause problems and I always respect people. I find that if you are nice to people, then they will be nice to you.
