Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on Friday criticised the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government and said it is the most 'corrupt' government in the history of India.
"This is the most corrupt government in the history of India," Jaitley said while addressing a dharna at New Delhi´s Jantar Mantar on Friday.
The BJP demonstrated against the UPA government at the Jantar Mantar on the issue of price rise and cap on LPG cylinders.
Slamming Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Jaitley said: "The Prime Minister said that money does not grow on tress.The people of the country will teach them in the upcoming elections that vote also do not grow on tress."
"The government has not spared any section of the society. It has affected the lives of shopkeepers to housewives," he said.
BJP leader Sushma Swaraj was also present at the venue.
The Delhi unit of the BJP will launch a 40-day public movement in New Delhi from Oct 14 to agitate against the increase in power tariff, cooking gas and oil and also the decision of the government to allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail.
