The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Wednesday suspended party workers who danced with women and threw money at them on the stage during the party's foundation day celebrations at Bhangore area in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Tuesday.
TMC MP Derek O´Brien tweeted: "Disciplinary com (committee) meet on. Pending inqry, party men suspnded. Expulsion not ruled out. Spoke to CM, she had 2 words: "Zero tolerance" #bengal."
"Must emphasize, 99.99% of Trinamool Foundation Day events were true to our spirit, saw blood & book donation camps. Lest we forget#bengal," he posted.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee´e party earlier in the day condemned the incident and assured that it would take action against ´any party worker´ who was involved in it.
"It was an isolated incident and the strictest action will be taken against any party worker involved.This is absolutely non-negotiable,"Derek tweeted.
The incident, a recording of which was aired on local television channels on Tuesday, triggered a controversy.
