New Delhi, Feb 16 (IANS) With overcast skies and rains through the day, it was a wet and pleasant day in the capital Saturday as the maximum temperature dived eight notches below average at 16.1 degrees Celsius. The Met office has forecast more rains Sunday.
"The skies will remain cloudy and light rains will continue tonight (Saturday) and tomorrow (Sunday) as well," said an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The maximum and minimum temperatures Sunday are expected to hover around 19 and 13 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The city received a total of 3.2 mm of rainfall from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Saturday and the minimum temperature settled at 13.7 degrees Celsius, three notches above average.
The city witnessed rains through the day and many roads were under water leading to traffic snarls.
According to Delhi Police, traffic jams were reported from Ashram and South Extension in south Delhi, Jhandewalan and Azad Market in central Delhi and Dilshad Garden in east Delhi.
However, Saturday being a weekend, there was no rush-hour traffic.
Humidity levels wavered between a high of 98 percent and a low of 79 percent.
Friday's maximum temperature was 23.2 degrees Celsius - a notch below average, while the minimum temperature was two notches above the average for this time of the season at 12.7 degrees Celsius.
