When Maoists turned religious

The decision of the Maoist government in Nepal to remove Indian priests from the Pashupatinath temple and appoint Nepali successors resulted in public anger and violence. Protesters blocked part of the road leading to the temple, burning tyres and pelting passing vehicles with stones. Several cars were damaged. The 17th century temple and its surroundings were on Monday declared prohibited areas where rallies, demonstrations and press conferences have been banned.
