Even as protesters continue to halt Delhi with demands for better laws and checks to ensure the safety of women in the country, Andhra Pradesh Congress chief Botsa Satyanarayana, on Monday hinted that women shouldn't be traveling "freely at midnight" and boarding private buses.
"We also condemn the incident. But we should consider the circumstances. They should also think that they should not go in a private bus at night. We say we got freedom at midnight but doesn't mean we can roam around freely at midnight,'' Satyanarayana was quoted as saying by NDTV.
He later backtracked and took back his statement saying his comments were misunderstood.
