Twisted your tongue over Eyjafjallajoekull? Or wondered what the hell they meant when they talked about Gate Rape? We recall some of the most used and most unusual words and phrases of 2010

Vuvuzela - They drowned out the commentary, and led to the creation of a wide variety of apps that vainly tried to cut out their shrill noise from TV, mobile and Internet screens.

Much of the loud sounds featured across the football stadiums in South Africa this year during the FIFA World Cup came from the brightly colored plastic horns blown by the fans.

The horn is locally, and now internationally, recognised as the Vuvuzela.
