World marks 50th anniversary of Yuri Gagarin's space flight

On Tuesday, April 12, the world celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first manned space flight mission by the Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin.

Exactly 50 years ago, on that day in 1961, cosmonaut Gagarin became the first human to enter outer space, making a 108-minute orbital flight in his Vostok 1 spacecraft.
