Yet another red-letter day at OTA

September and March are two important months in the calendar of the Officers Training Academy in Chennai.

It is in these two months that the OTA presents the nation its proud products. A batch of more than 200 cadets each, who undergo strenuous training at the OTA, march out of the academy in September and March.

The passing out parade, which they affectionately call POP, is not merely a parade of the gentleman and lady cadets on a single day. The whole process lasts for three days which, of course, culminates in the parade.

The two days prior to the parade are also significant in the lives of the cadets since each of them knows these moments are going to be etched in their memory for ever.

The March edition of the POP started on Thursday with the award distribution ceremony at the Chanakya Auditorium.

Commandant of the OTA Lt Gen Gautam Banerjee honoured the meritorious cadets and the companies that excelled in the training programmes.
