Aam Aadmi party first offcial meet today

Social activist turned politician Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is all set to hold its first official meeting here on Sunday, a day after the name of the political outfit was announced.

Party´s National Executive member Kejriwal is likely to meet volunteers at at Samtha Sthal opposite Raj Ghat on Sunday.

Kejriwal tweeted: "Moharram today. So youth rally won´t take place. All youth wud [would] assemble at samta sthal opp Rajghat, have discussions n disperse. I"ll b dere [there]."

"The AAP is expected to hold another meet at 6 pm which will be for National Executive members," CNN-IBN reported.

Kejriwal on Saturday officially announced the name of his political party as Aam Aadmi Party, and said it will challenge existing political outfits.

He said 300 members attended meeting of his political group.

Kejriwal said: "The party´s national council has been formed today."

"Aam Aadmi Party´ will fight elections..It is going to challenge existing parties," Kejriwal said.

Raising the pitch of their fight against the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government over their core issue of graft, the name is seen as a dig at the popular "aam aadmi" (common man) motif of the ruling party, reports said.

The name was finalised at a meeting led by Kejriwal and his activist colleague Prashant Bhushan, a Supreme Court lawyer, at a meeting in the Delhi

The meeting was the first of its national council and the members were expected to ratify the name and elect a 30-member national executive.

The party is expected to be officially launched at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Nov 26 however the formalities with the Election Commission could take four-five months before the party is registered, reports said.
