Abu Dhabi, June 7 (IANS/WAM) The Abu Dhabi Police will launch a campaign starting June 10 to identify violators of laws against noise pollution.
The Gulf News daily said in an editorial Thursday that urbanisation will inevitably lead to noise pollution, and residential areas in Abu Dhabi that were once quiet are now getting accustomed to blowing horns, loud music emanating from car stereos and the incessant sound of construction.
However, along with this phenomenon comes the added risk of health problems, loss of hearing and lack of sleep, the daily said.
"Noise creates stress and the latter weakens the human system making it susceptible to physical ailment", it said.
Police will now impose steep fines and seize vehicles from violators.
