Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal and his party workers are staging a sit in protest outside Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's residence here on Friday against the demolition of 500 houses in South Delhi's Shaheen Bagh.
Meanwhile, a large number of police personnel have been deployed at the spot to avoid any untoward incident.
Kejriwal had earlier on Thursday visited Shaheen Bagh to express sympathy with people whose houses were demolished on Tuesday.
Doubting a land scandal, Kejriwal alleged that about 500 houses were demolished by the Delhi government.
"How can you demolish houses like this? The site looks like an earthquake site," added Kejriwal, who further claimed: "Privately, I am told officials admit it was a mistake."
"Those whose houses have been demolished are poor. They have supporting documents such as voters' ID, gas connections and even Aadhar cards. Besides, the government did not even give them notice before demolition," he said. (ANI)
