Puducherry: The Indian Medical Council has cancelled the admissions of over 700 MBBS students in private colleges in Puducherry. This comes after they fail to follow the guidelines of Supreme Court.
The students had joined the colleges last year.
According to a letter from Medical Council of India, the seven colleges "haven’t demonstrated any evidence of fairness and transparency in the admission process...”
Puducherry governor Kiran Bedi claims that merit has been sacrificed for money. Bedi who ordered a probe after receiving complaints from parents found that out of 1,200 students who joined the private colleges for bachelor of medicine, bachelor of surgery or MBBS last year, over 700 have been admitted overlooking SC's order on the NEET examination.
