Nahan: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader L.K Advani on Thursday campaigned for the party in Nahan, Himachal Pradesh.

Addressing a rally, Advani said: "For the last 60 years, the Muslims of India are being warned and intimidated to stay away from the Jan Sangh and the BJP. It is not because these people have any genuine concern for the Muslims."

Elections in Himachal Pradesh are to take place on November 4 and the counting of votes will take place on December 20.

Advani attacked the Congress-led federal government by saying that India's image had been maligned globally because of the recent spate of scams.

"We are in 2012, and in the last three years our country has been defamed all over the world because of these multiple scams right from the Commonwealth Games till today. They are countless and you know everything," said Advani.

The Himachal Pradesh State Assembly consists of 68 seats, 42 of which were won by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2007 election.

Bharatiya Janata Party is making several attempts to seek another term for Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Prem Kumar Dhumal, who is leading the campaign.

Former Union Cabinet Minister and Congress leader Virbhadra Singh, who was also five times Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, would contest from Shimla (rural).
