Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran Lal Krishna Advani on Tuesday lauded Narendra Modi for his effective administration, saying it will be a hat trick for the Gujarat Chief Minister on December 20.
Advani said that it was for the first time that he has witnessed such interest in the assembly polls.
"I have taken part in all Lok Sabha elections. I want to tell Gujarat, through you, that the world and the whole country is watching the Lok Sabha polls usually. This is the first time I have seen such interest in assembly polls," Advani told a gathering here.
"Everyone wants to know what will happen on December 20. There may be some doubt about other elections but there is no doubt among our supporters, and also our opponents what will happen on December 20. There will be a hat trick," he added.
Advani said that he came across Sanand the first time when it was chosen as the site for the Nano car.
"I want everyone in India to drive a car. Manufacturing sector leads to development, employment and that is my dream for India," he added.
The BJP veteran also expressed his astonishment over the Congress Party repeatedly targetting Modi.
"I am amazed when the Congress accuses 'Narendra-bhai'," he said.
Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, who made his first appearance in the Gujarat assembly election campaign today, used the occasion to take potshots at Modi.
He claimed that there is a false propaganda launched in Gujarat that the state is making all round progress, but contrary to it there is rampant corruption in the state, unemployment is very high and there is all round failure.
Rahul Gandhi called Modi a salesman of false propaganda that Gujarat was making all round progress.
He said there is no Lokayukta in Gujarat and 14,000 RTI applications were pending as government does not want to let any information come out as it would expose its true affairs.
Gujarat will go to the polls in two phases on December 13 and 17. The counting of votes will take place on December 20. (ANI)
