Mumbai: A local court today remanded Arjun Menon, an IndiGo Airlines co-pilot arrested in connection with the alleged suicide of an airhostess, to police custody till June 19.

Menon (30), who was arrested yesterday, has been charged with abetting the suicide of Sucheta Anand, the 25-year-old air hostess who was found hanging from the ceiling in a hotel room in suburban Santacruz on June 7.

The co-pilot was arrested following a complaint of abetment to suicide filed by Anand's brother Manish who is a Delhi-based businessman.

The Santacruz police had initially registered a case of accidental death.

Anand, a Delhi resident, had been working for the low-cost airline for the last one year and ended her life during a stopover in the metropolis.

Anand had recently filed a divorce application in a Delhi court due to alleged harassment by her in-laws.

Manish, in his statement to the police, had suspected Menon as his sister had been having interaction with him for quite a long time and secondly, he was the last person seen with her, Deputy Commissioner of Police Niket Kaushik said.
