Hyderabad: Police today apprehended six members of a family, including four women, who had formed a gang that committed thefts at crowded places.
The gang members would struck at function halls, temples and buses, among other crowded places. Gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 12.98 lakh were seized from the gang members - P Kavitha, Syed Mohammed, Meharunnisa, Ashu, Mallesh and his wife Nirmala, police said.
With their arrest, police have claimed to solved 21 cases under Cyberabad Commissionerate jurisdiction registered since last year.
Explaining their modus operandi, police said the gang members used to get divided into two batches and enter busy places, from where they would steal valuables and jewellery.
