Ambala mishap: 10 children, driver dead

Ten children and driver of a school bus were killed when the vehicle collided with a truck on Monday morning near Ambala in Haryana.

As many as 20 passers-by were injured in the accident.

According to the police, the accident occurred due to heavy fog that led to poor visibility.

Ten out of 11 children travelling in the bus died in the accident. The driver succumbed to his injuries later in a hospital.

The truck driver fled the spot.

The mini bus was taking 11 children to Arjun Public School near Saha when it had a head-on collision with a truck on Ambala-Yamunanagar Road.

The children, who were killed in the mishap, were within the age group of five to eight years.

Seven of those killed have been identified so far. They are Divya, Rahul, Rishab, Raveesh, Pulkit, Harish and Anu.

The injured people were taken to Civil Hospital in Ambala Cantonment for treatment.

Senior administrative officials rushed to the accident site and Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has offered his condolences to the deceased families.
