Amway observes International White Cane Day

Non-Profit Organization, Amway Opportunity Foundation Saturday observed International White Cane Day with the students of National Association For The Blind, Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission Blind Boys' Academy and other blind schools in Kolkata.

Special dignitaries present were National Association For Blind Head Kanchan Gaba, Additional Director General of BSF B. D Sharma and West Bengal, Sikkim & Andaman Nikoman Island, Amway India head G.S Cheema.

Cheema handed over white canes and special DVDs on Braille to every student present over there.

Gaba being a visually challenged person herself wished all the luck for the children and encouraged them to work hard to win any challenges on their ways.

She added, "White Cane Safety Day is observed on the Oct 15 every year and the purpose of this day is to protect the visually challenged people which could be done by a specially made white cane whose tip was made by a special electric shock proof material to understand the lowest and highest point of the road."

Amway Opportunity Foundation (AOF) has been working for the visually challenged people since 2009 and already distributed books on Braille among the 15 states of the country, informed officials.
