[India], Mar 12 (ANI): Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday intensified his attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of favouring businessman Anil Ambani in Rafale fighter plane deal, who could not even “make a paper plane.”
“Anil Ambani has never made an aeroplane in his life. Give him a piece of paper and he cannot even make a plane out of it,” said Rahul in his address to a public rally here after the meeting of Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Tuesday.
In September last year, former French President Francois Hollande had tossed a stun grenade into the raging controversy over India’s 2016 purchase of 36 Rafale fighter aircraft, stating that Indian government had proposed the name of Anil Ambani led group as an industrial partner, a charge which has been denied by the Central government.
Talking about the state of affairs in Indian judiciary, Gandhi accused Prime Minister Modi led dispensation at the Centre of destroying constitutional institutions of the country.
“For the first time in the history of India, four judges of the Supreme Court went to the press and said that they are not allowed to do their work. Generally, people go to the Supreme Court for justice but in today’s India, judges are going to the public and asking for justice,” he said.
Four Supreme Court judges—Justices Madan B Lokur, Kurien Joseph, Ranjan Gogoi, and Jasti Chelameswar—addressed the press conference in January last year appealing to the nation to save their institution if they wanted democracy in the country to survive.
Talking about the problem of unemployment, Rahul said: “Prime Minister Modi doesn’t talk about true issues. The truth is that unemployment is highest in the 45 years.”
“The Prime Minister only talks of Start-up-India, Stand-up-India but youth from different states are wandering here and there in other states in search of jobs. His government gives only 450 jobs in 24 hours.”
He also said that Prime Minister Modi only cares about 15 big businessmen of this country and does not bother about farmers, poor and youth.
“He waived off Rs 3,50,000 crore loan of big businessmen but not a single penny of farmers. The money which you deposit in banks even goes into the accounts of big 15 businessmen and their companies are benefitted,” he said.
Talking about tax reform, he said: “The Congress party will definitely form the government at the Centre and we will reform the GST by introducing a single rate under the new regime.”
Rahul also criticised the policy measures like ‘demonetisation’ which have broken the backbone of common traders, farmers and the common man but had no effect on the rich and wealthy people. (ANI)
