Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday accused anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare's campaign against graft to be biased in favour of the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
"Why is Team Anna keeping mum on corruption in the BJP-ruled states like Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jharkhand and Gujarat. Why is only the Congress being blamed for corruption?" Singh said in his third "open letter" to Hazare.
Hazare, who heads the India Against Corruption (IAC) movement, has led two nationwide hunger strike campaigns this year that forced the Centre to act on graft and recently campaigned in by-polls in Haryana against the ruling Congress alleging that the party was stalling anti-corruption reforms.
Taking on the the septuagenarian self-styled Gandhian activist, Singh reiterated that anti-Congress stance of Hazare benefited the BJP and proved that he had links to the right-wing party's ideological parent the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).
"I am unable to understand what has happened to Anna Hazare. RSS leader Ram Madhav appeared on Anna´s stage during the protest at Jantar Mantar. During the Ramlila Maidan rally, Team Anna expressed gratefulness to LK Advani and Nitin Gadkari.
"I am surprised why Anna is trying to shy away from RSS. On one hand, Anna is working with RSS support and at the same time it is claiming to have no relation with RSS," Digvijay Singh said.
