Ansari lauds ITBP, lays foundation of Central Training College in Alwar

Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari on Sunday said that despite being a paramilitary force, it is noteworthy that the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) remained committed to social action and civic responsibility.

"Vice President Ansari, who laid the foundation stone of the "Central Training College of the ITBP in Ramgarh, Alwar, in his address said that the primary mandate of the ITBP is to protect our northern frontiers - from Jammu and Kashmir to Arunachal Pradesh.

"This sensitive role of the ITBP needs to be appreciated all the more as it operates in the Himalayan border areas which are marked by high altitudes, difficult terrain and extreme weather conditions. This necessitates specialized training and skill development, which the ITBP has acquired over the years," he added.

Vice President Ansari said that in recent years, the mandate of the ITBP has expanded and the force has evolved into a multi-faceted unit which undertakes various responsibilities.

"It has also performed admirably in the sphere of disaster management. Its trained personnel have carried out several rescue and relief operations in various disaster situations, especially in the mountainous regions. It has earned laurels for the nation and itself in United Nations peacekeeping operations, with its personnel having served in many countries," he added.

Vice President Ansari hoped that this Central Training College for the ITBP attains importance and in the years ahead, the courageous and committed personnel of the ITBP would benefit from this facility and would continue to serve the nation as per the high standards set in their motto of valour, determination and devotion to duty.

He said that the people of Alwar and its neighbouring regions of Rajasthan will be immensely benefitted with the ITBP training centre and it will definitely help in the development of this region.

Vice President Ansari later unveiled the statue of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh at Bhawani Top in Alwar followed by unveiling another statue of late Maharaja Jai Singh at Moti Dungari in Alwar.

Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Finance Namo Narayan Meena, Minister of State for Home R.P.N. Singh, Minister of State for Rural Development Lal Chand Rajput, and Member of Parliament Jayant Chaudhary were among those present on the occasions. (ANI)
