A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was admitted by the Jammu and Kashmir High Court on Tuesday against writer turned activist Arundhati Roy for her alleged anti-India remarks made during a recent seminar at New York.
The PIL was filed at the Jammu and Kashmir High Court by three Kashmiri Pandits- Vijay Kumar Kashkari, Ajay Kumar Bhat and Vir Ji Saraf.
During a seminar at Asia Society in New York, Arundhati Roy said Kashmir is one of the most ´protracted´ and ´bloody occupations´ in the world.
Roy was attending the seminar titled ´Kashmir: The Case for Freedom´.
"Kashmir is one of the most protracted and bloody occupations in the world and one of the most ignored," she said at the seminar.
"While India brutalizes Kashmir in so many ways that occupation brutalizes the Indians," she said.
"I think that the people of Kashmir have the right to self- determination. They have the right to choose who they want to be, and how they want to be," Roy said.
