Anti-talk faction ULFA ready for talks

the Anti-talk faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) is ready for talks with Union government if it is held in a third country and features the issue of Assam's sovereignty.

The banned organization took the decision during its five day long central executive meeting, which was held from April 2.

In a statement sent to media houses, the chairman of the outfit Dr Abhijit Asom had said that, ULFA will participate in talks with Union government only the issue of Assam's sovereignty and it must be held in a third country in presence of representatives of United Nations (UN).

The banned organization also changed the name of the organization and it would be known as United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) or ULFA (I).

The central executive of ULFA has appointed C-in-C Paresh Asom as the new vice chairman along with his earlier position of the organization and Jiban Asom as its finance secretary.
