Anupam Kher's father passes away

Pushkarnath Kher, father of prolific actor Anupam Kher, passed away at the age of 84 on Friday in Mumbai after a brief illness.

Kher was on his way to Goa to attend the wedding of David Dhawan's son Rohit Dhawan when he got the sad news.

He revealed the news via twitter, saying, "As I landed in Goa my brother Raju called from Mumbai that the "Best Dad in the World" ( our father ) is No More. Traveling back."

As the news spread across the industry, condolence messages and prayers started pouring in.

Amitabh Bachchan, who is all set to undergo an operation at Sevenhills on Saturday, posted on twitter, "And just now more distressing news on the passing away of Anupam Kher´s Father .. sad and so tragic when you lose near and dear .."

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar wrote on his twitter page, "@AnupamPkher Please accept my deep condolences in this moment of grief , i pray to GOD to give u strength and bless the departed soul."

Actress Sonam Kapoor too made sure she sends her prayers. Her twitter post read, "@AnupamPkher I´m so sorry anupam uncle.. Lots and lots of love and prayers."

Thanking everyone for their support and prayers, Kher tweeted, "Thank You ALL for your heartfelt messages about my father.He was my best friend also. His last words to me this morning."LIVE LIFE.""
