Colombo: Anura Bandaranaike, the son of former Sri Lankan prime ministers Solomon Bandaranaike and Sirimavo Bandanaike, died here on Sunday following prolonged illness.
The 59-year-old Anura, brother of former president Chandrika Kumaratunga, breathed his last at his residence at 4:15 pm, two days after he was discharged from a private hosptial here, officials said.
He had served as the minister of national heritage in the government of president Mahinda Rajapakse but quit following differences with him.
Bandaranaike was hospitalised for nearly 60 days before he was discharged.
