AP: 599 lives saved by APDRFS in one year

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Disaster Response and Fire Services (APDRFS) Department saved 599 lives between April 2012 to March 2013.

A total of 25,919 fire and emergency calls were attended, saving property worth Rs 1,201 crore, APDRFS Department Director General S V Ramana Murthy said here today.

Nizamabad district recorded highest number of 2,652 fire calls, followed by Krishna district (2,314), Guntur (1,660), East Godavari (1,623), Nellore (1,560), West Godavari (1,366) and Hyderabad district (1,213).

The department is going to observe 'Fire Service Week' from April 14-20.
