Two California women kidnapped by Bedouin tribesmen tell The Associated Press their Egyptian kidnappers fed them tea and snacks and said they wouldn't hurt them.
Patti Ganal of Los Gatos, Calif., and Norma Supe of Union City, Calif., say their hourslong ordeal brought them closer to God. They called their captors polite, kind and hospitable.
Ganal and Supe were taken off a tour bus after visiting a monastery in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula on Friday. Their tour guide was allowed to come with them to translate.
Ganal says her kidnapper put out his cigarette after she said the smoke bothered her. She says they made her tea, and gave them bread and dried fruits.
The women were kidnapped in a restive region where security has deteriorated since Egypt's popular uprising last year.
