Arms recovered in Assam, two arrested

Huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered by security forces at Sonapur area under Kamrup (Metro) district in Assam on Friday evening, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Assam police and CRPF seized a huge cache of arms and ammunition from a Tata Indica car (AS-26-6024) which came from Nagaland and arrested two arms dealer in Sonapur area.

Security forces recovered two Japanese made automatic rifles about one thousand live ammunition from the car.

The nabbed arms dealer duo were identified as Chokdom Daimary and Subhash Rai, police added.
