Pune witnessed a nasty clash between Army personnel and cops on the streets Tuesday night, causing injuries to several policemen.
Reports said two army jawans on a motorbike assaulted a traffic policeman when they were intercepted from straying into a No Entry area.
Police said when a army man from the College of Military Engineering (CME) on the two wheeler and the pillion rider were stopped by the traffic constable at Sambhaji Bridge, the duo beat him up after a verbal duel.
Soon the scuffle turned into a street brawl and more Army men - around 30 in number- reached the spot and later entered a police station and went on a rampage injuring several cops and destroying articles and furniture.
Some mediapersons also bore the brunt of the anger and their equipment were damaged as they tried to capture the incident.
Later the Army officials involved in the brawl were summoned to the police station.
Army later issued a statement saying action would be taken against those found guilty and "no indiscipline would be tolerated."
