An army officer of the rank of Lieutenant Colonel was charred to death after a fire broke out in his camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district.
According to the officials, the incident occurred late last night at around 2 a.m. at the Special Forces camp in the Sunerwani area, when a short circuit apparently triggered the fire in the barrack.
The deceased officer belonged to the elite counter-insurgency unit and was posted here as the commanding officer.
Shohaib Malik, a doctor at Bandipora district hospital, said: "Body of the officer was 100 percent burnt when brought for postmortem. However, we have done postmortem and taken few samples from lungs and heart."
The concerned army authorities are probing the incident. The army is yet to release the name of the dead officer. (ANI)
