Chandigarh, Mar 8 (IBNS) India's boxing icon and Olympian Vijender Singh along with another boxer has been named as his clients by an arrested drug dealer in Punjab where police recovered heroin worth Rs 130 crore, media reports said, even as the boxer and his family vehemently denied any connection with the man or drugs.
Police recovered the huge quantity of of heroin from a flat at Zirakpur near Mohali and reports said a car of the wife of Vijender Singh was seen parked outside the house. The arrested man has been identified as Anup Singh Kahlon.
Kahlon alleged that he supplied drugs to Vijender Singh and Ram Singh.
Drugs were also recovered from another car at the spot.
Police said they would summon Vijender Singh and another boxer Ram Singh.
Vijender Singh told CNN IBN channel that the allegations are all baseless and he is not connected to the arrested man in any way.
SSP Fatehgarh Sahab Hardyal Mann Singh told reporters that investigation is on to check the veracity of the claims of the drug dealer.
An icon in India now, Vijender won India´s first boxing Olympic medal in the form of a bronze in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He won a bronze medal at 2006 Asian Games in Doha.
