At least one security personnel was killed and nine others including two jawans were injured in a powerful grenade blast by suspected militants in Guwahati on Saturday evening, officials said.
The blast occurred around 7:40 pm at Paltan Bazar area in the city.
"Suspected militants of anti-talk faction group of United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) lobbed the grenade targeted to the CRPF personnel," an official of Guwahati city police said.
The injured people had admitted to the Guwahati Medical College hospital.
The deceased Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was identified as Bhadra Singh.
Senior police officials had rushed to the spot and launched a search operation to nab the militants.
Assam police has sounded a high alert in the city.
Meanwhile, a security personnel was injured in a blast in West Imphal in Manipur on Saturday.
