At least three people were killed and two others were injured when a passenger train hit them at an unmanned railway crossing level in Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district on Saturday, officials said.
The incident took place at Balapara Chisapitha railway crossing level near Boko in the district, where a passenger train hit a Tata DI vehicle.
"When the bricks laden vehicle was trying to cross the unmanned railway crossing level, a passenger train coming from Guwahati and moving towards Bongaigaon hit the vehicle," a police official said.
"Three people in the vehicle were killed on the spot and two others were injured," the official said.
The deceased people are yet to be identified.
The injured were admitted to a nearby hospital.
Local people alleged that they have urged to the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway authorities to take necessary action on the unmanned railway crossing level at the area since past several years, but in vain.
