Assam: BTC accuses AIUDF of backing settlers

The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief Hagrama Mahilary on Friday alleged that All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief and MP Badaruddin Ajmal had backed illegal Bangladeshis in the recent BTAD riots.

"Thousands of illegal Bangladeshis had entered in Dhubri district and BTAD areas to take advantage during the violence, in which Ajmal backed those migrants," Hagrama said.

During a press conference held at Kokrajhar, the BTC chief said that, Badaruddin Ajmal was one of the masterminds of recent Mumbai violence.

Meanwhile, the BTC chief and chief of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF), an ally of the Congress ruling state government said that the alliance will continue.

On August 23, a MLA of BPF, Pradeep Brahma was arrested by police alleged in connection with recent BTAD violence.

Kokrajhar police arrested Brahma from his residence at Dotama.

Later, the arrested MLA was sent to 14 days judicial custody.

At least 78 people were killed and many others injured in recent BTAD violence.
