Guwahati, Nov 3 (IBNS) : Four people, who allegedly involved in extortion pretending to be Maoist rebels, were nabbed by police in Assam's Kamrup district on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off, Kamrup police apprehended the persons from Baihata Chariali in the district.
"The persons sent a demand letter using a letter pad of the Maoists to a local person named Kanak Deka," a police official said.
The nabbed people were identified as Jyotish Talukdar, Hitesh Deka, Khagen Sarmah and Brajen Nath.
Police are interrogating the apprehended persons for more information.
