Guwahati: Fresh violence erupted on Monday night in lower Assam's Kokrajhar district, where at least six people were reportedly injured in a grenade blast and 50 houses were torched, officials said.
The incident took place at Pakharitoli, Bhauraguri and Salakati areas under Fakiragram police station in Kokrajhar district around 10:20 pm.
In the grenade blast and shooting incident at least six people were injured.
The injured people were admitted in Fakriagram civil hospital.
Miscreants also set fire on at least 50 houses in the area.
An unofficial source reported of gun fight between miscreants and security forces in Pakharitoli and Salakati area.
Senior police officials along with the army rushed to the spot and launched search operation to nab the miscreants.
Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also rushed to the spot.
Assam is witnessing spiralling ethno-communal violence between the Bodos and Muslim settlers for months now claiming more than 80 lives so far and rendering lakhs of people homeless.
