Assam militants threaten Congress leaders

Karbi People's Liberation Tiger (KPLT) have threatened a Member of Parliament (MP), Congress leaders and security system of Assam's Karbi Anglong district after its top leader was killed during gun fight with security forces.

KPLT´s Chairman Rong Rongpi alias Bidisha Tungjang said in a statement issued on Sunday: "We have decided to attack those people´s, who are against the Karbi Land and its people."

The outfit group threatened the MP, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Executive Member (EM), Congress leaders and security system in the hills district.

Six hardcore militants of KPLT, including the general secretary of the outfit group Nilip Inghi, were killed during a gun fight with security forces at Chokihola under Bokajan police station in the hills district on April 20.

After the KPLT´s threat, Assam Police have beefed up security across the district and its bordering areas.

KPLT is active Karbi Anglong and the bordering areas of Nagaon, Golaghat and Dima Hasao district.
