Sending a message of unity and harmony, a three-day-long Assam youth festival was recently held in Guwahati.
During the festival, spectators were thrilled by the lively cultural show held at the Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati.
Held under the aegis of the Assam's Sports and Youth Welfare Department, the festival provided a platform for youth to interact and exchange tips about their respective cultures, while at the same time promoting the need for peace and harmony in the region.
"I am happy that a large number of contenders from Sikkim and Mizoram, and from all the eight states are here. I am glad to see the spirit, enthusiasm and talent among them. Youth is the future of the country," said Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi.
Youth of the northeast also participated in various competitive events, including folk dance, song competitions and rock concerts.
"It is nice to be here, because we are meeting people from different states; we are happy to know their culture and traditions and, we are competing with them also. I think my best experience would be here," said Dorsring Bhutia, a participant from Sikkim.
Festivals like these not only help youngsters to show their talents, but also help them to understand the unique diversity of the region and the rest of the country. (ANI)
