Kochi: A CD linked to the Al Qaeda has been found in the vehicle of a man suspected to be connected to the attack on a Kerala college teacher five days ago, police said on Friday.

Kochi Superintendent of Police (Rural) T. Vikram said that the vehicle belonging to Kunjumon was seized Thursday near here and the CD recovered from it. He is a suspect in the case related to T.J. Joseph, whose right palm was chopped off for an allegedly inflammatory question paper, police said.

2 arrested for attack on lecturer

'We have now found out that the CD showed various types of execution carried out by the Al Qaeda. We have registered a case under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act against Kunjumon,' said Vikram.

Joseph, a Malayalam teacher at the New Man College at Thodupuzha, was attacked  on Sunday morning while returning from church along with his sister and aged mother. He himself is currently on bail after being arrested for preparing an alleged inflammatory question paper earlier this year.

Police have arrested two people and and seized Kunjumon's Innova car, which is suspected to have helped the assailants flee. Kunjumon is still at large.

'He (Kunjumon) is now a suspect in the crime and investigations are going on. He was an accused in the murder of a political person in 2001 but later acquitted,' Vikram said.

Joseph's chopped palm was re-attached after a marathon surgery and he is now convalescing in a hospital at Kochi.
